How Online Food & Beverage Ordering Helped a Country Club Beat a Cool, Slow Start to Summer

Success Story, Green Meadow Country Club

Green Meadow launched a mobile app with F&B Ordering

Green Meadow Country Club's servers were sprinting across the property just to take and deliver poolside orders. When a cool, wet June hit, every single order mattered even more. By using onTap, a Food & Beverage ordering platform, in their custom mobile Gallus app, Green Meadow cut down on server burnout, elevated service quality, and finished the season strong—despite eight fewer pool days.

The Challenge

Green Meadow's kitchen sits centrally, with a lounge and pool on the opposite side of the building. Servers had to run back and forth, sometimes in temperatures topping 100°, just to take and deliver poolside Food & Beverage orders — a physically demanding setup that created bottlenecks.
  • High Physical Toll: Servers were logging 'miles and miles' a day just crossing the property
  • Hiring Constraints: The demanding nature of the job restricted hiring primarily to young, high-endurance workers, who often had less customer-service experience
  • Inadequate Workarounds: An poolside iPad order station did little to improve speed or order volume

The Solution

Green Meadow launched a custom-branded mobile app featuring onTap Food & Beverage ordering at the start of summer. Eli Eller, Food & Beverage Director, set clear expectations from day one: ordering through their new app was the primary way to get food and drinks poolside.
  • Frictionless Ordering: QR Codes at every poolside table allowed members to download the app instantly and place orders directly to their table
  • Role Optimization: Staff shifted from runners to delivery specialists, dramatically reducing physical strain and improving member interactions
  • High Member Engagement: Push Notifications served double duty for operational alerts (pool closures, weather alerts) and marketing (new wine club, event promotion, club news), with Green Meadow driving over 70% notification opt-in rate
  • All-in-One Convenience: Beyond F&B, members adopted the app for GPS & scorecard tracking, golfer stats, GHIN score posting, and club news

What Happened

Green Meadow launched during an unseasonably wet June (with 13% fewer open pool days across the season compared to 2025). However, member adoption was immediate, turning a slow start into a major win:
  • Immediate Adoption: Members embraced app ordering in week one—driving a 51% jump in June daily revenue (normalized against 2025 weather) during the coldest month of the season
  • Weather-Proof Recovery: As temperatures warmed, sales surged. July and August finished 12.2% ahead of the previous year, helping the club bring total seasonal performance back to even despite facing 8 fewer pool days overall

The Result

  • +12.9% increase in revenue per pool day* year-over-year
  • $68,000+ total F&B sales through onTap in Year 1:
    • ~$38,000 from poolside ordering
    • ~$30,000 from mid-round golf ordering
  • $36 average order value (an increase of $5-$10 over prior years)
  • +70% push notification opt-in across their member base

*Pool day = high of 80°F+ (Helena Regional Airport data).

In Their Words

"It was either the best worst idea I've ever had, or the worst best idea I've ever had. I don't know if the kitchen will ever forgive me — but requiring orders through our app at the pool saved us on labor and drove orders and engagement through the roof."

— Eli Eller, Director of Clubhouse Operations, Green Meadow Country Club

Bottom line

Green Meadow heads into its second season with a proven model, an engaged member base, and even greater upside on the horizon.
